What’s trending today: Letting you know what’s up with your Twitter feed

#1 Polaris  2012: Not referring at all to the ATV, today the short list for the Polaris Music Prize 2012 was released.  Check it out below and tell us who you think is missing from the list!

#2 Fashion Unfold: A media product designed to give industry hopefuls inside info and tips on the ins and outs of the industry.  This month’s featured topic was Unpaid Internships: Beneficial or Rip-off? People weighed in across the country, discussing problems with the high expectations and somewhat ridiculous protocol associated with unpaid internships at high-end fashion companies.  As a result, there is now a list available that rates internships (with some of the worst being Proenza Schouler and PR Consulting,) and Conde Naste is even considering updating its policies and programs.  We at Cobalt hope this insight leads to a brighter tomorrow for all of us who aspire to work in the industry someday.

#3 Kiss Cam: The Obamas are getting some positive press after a kiss cam experience at the pre-Olympic basketball game between U.S.A. and Brazil.  One word: CUTE.

#4 William Raspberry: On the sad side of the news today, William Raspberry, a Pulitzer Prize winning columnist for the Washington Post lost his battle with prostrate cancer today at the age of  76.  He wrote about social issues that affect our country and was one of the first black journalists to gain a substantial following.  His inspirational legacy will live on, and we are deeply saddened to see a member of our press family have to leave us; Our sympathy goes out to his wife and family, and to all of his avid readers, he will be well missed.

#5 Kevin Sumlin: At Media Days, Sumlin was officially announced as the new head coach for Texas A&M.  He is determined to get the Aggies winning big and he is passionate about the game, which will be a great addition to the program.  A former football player, Sumlin is chill and laid back, a proficient mandolin player, and enjoys ice climbing.  We wish him the best of luck in his dream career!
