Embellishments are BIG this season. Even bigger than the twitter commentary after the closing ceremonies big. While this trend was done as dramatically as possible on the runways, especially at shows like Louis Vuitton and Lanvin and Balmain, the clothes mass-produced for the public were a little more wearable, thank god. While it would be fun to wear a completely bejeweled sheath dress for a little while, it sure as hell would be difficult to pull off on a suburban college campus in Des Moines.
Embellishment is nice because it adds some oomph to an outfit without needing to add extra jewelry or accessories. It makes you look like you tried a little harder to put together your outfit, and no one will ever know that it was the first thing you could find in your closet before you bolted out the door. These items below encapsulate the embellishment trend with pieces that you can incorporate into your existing wardrobe.
P.S. If you want to save some money on your nonexistent college budget, try some of these DIYs to recycle pieces in your closet that you don’t wear anymore and turn them into the latest trend.
